Innovation in Priority Problem Wastes Management
The NSW EPA has released its second round of the Innovation in Priority Problem Wastes Management Grants Program under the $465.7 million NSW Government Waste Less Recycle More initiative (WLRM).
The new grants provide a one off opportunity to fund innovative projects that will increase the recovery of problematic materials in NSW. The new grant funding is summarised below:

All organisations (not individuals or sole traders).
Preference will be given to partnerships between industry and research organisations. |
Plastic film and other plastics, copper chrome arsenic timber and other treated timbers, tyres and rubber, nappies and incontinence pads, electronic waste, shredder floc and other compelling proposals. | Stream 1 New, emerging and ‘first of its kind’ infrastructure such as plant, equipment and processing technology. Preference will be given to projects that have reached a stage of early commercialisation. |
Stream 1 $100,000 and $1 million matched funding (cash). Approx. 80% of funding will be allocated to levy-paying areas of NSW. Approx. 20% of funding will be allocated to non-levy paying areas of NSW. |

Stream 2 Projects targeted at establishing recycled material markets, through activities such as product design and development, laboratory trials, development of prototypes, field trials and trials or pilots of collection systems. |
Stream 2 $20,000 and $200,000 matched funding (cash). Approx. 80% of funding will be allocated to levy-paying areas of NSW. Approx. 20% of funding will be allocated to non-levy paying areas of NSW. |
