Resource Recovery Expansion and Enhancement

The NSW EPA has released its third round of the Resource Recovery Facility Expansion and Enhancement Program (RRFEE) under the $465.7 million NSW Government Waste Less Recycle More initiative (WLRM).

The new grants provide a one off opportunity to accelerate investment in recycling infrastructure at existing facilities. The new grant funding is summarised below:

Grant Eligible Applicants Project Requirements Funding Per Applicant Closing Date
Resource Recovery Facility Expansion and Enhancement Councils, regional organisations of councils, local government organisations, NGO’s, not-for-profits and private industry or partnership. Must be an existing licensed facility.

Enhancement
Changes to an existing sorting or recovery facility that will increase recovery of waste.

Expansion
Increase in processing capacity of an existing plant.

Infrastructure and plant for food and garden organic waste is excluded as it is covered under the Organics Infrastructure Fund.

$100,000 to $1 million matched funding (in cash).

Approx. 80% of funding will be allocated to facilities in the levy paying area.

Approx. 20% will be allocated to facilities in the non-levy paying areas.
