MRA’s Mike Ritchie was invited to join the Ideas 2170 panel run by Liverpool City Council and Western Sydney University.

The event was held at WSU’s CBD campus on 19 November 2019.

The panel focused on future waste generation and waste management in Western Sydney where Councils are faced with significant population growth and increasingly strained waste management infrastructure.

The event attracted a diverse audience that included community members and representatives from the waste and resource recovery industry. The panel outlined the situation and presented a number of ideas on how local governments can act to avoid a future shortfall in waste-processing capacity and move towards a circular economy by increasing waste diversion and improving environmental outcomes.
